THE REMEDY

People want a quick remedy. Millions of dollars are spent on diet plans, wrinkle creams, exercise equipment and money-making schemes, without successful outcomes as presented by clever infomercials and advertising pitches.

Regrettably, wanting to appear religious or Christian-minded, man has fallen for another man-made remedy; just say, "I believe in God". When a person utters these words, it is often assumed that said person is a born-again believer. Alarmingly, there are many that contend that belief in God alone, without faith and trust in Jesus Christ, will provide everlasting security in Heaven. Not so…this remedy always fails, with deadly consequences. (II Thessalonians 1:9)

After all, "……… the devils also believe, and tremble." (James 2:19). The devils (demons) know God exists, but this belief does not save alone. It is utterly useless to believe the existence of God, while ignoring what only Jesus could truly declare. "I and my Father are one…" (John 10:30).

Now, what does the theist, polytheist and monotheist believe? Some theists believe in one God, while other theists believe in more than one. Because of God’s mercy, some theists believe everyone will obtain salvation. While others reason that if lost souls are in hell, hell will eventually die, eliminating everlasting torment. A polytheist believes in many gods who have their own religions and rituals. Monotheism is belief in one all-powerful God and is central to genuine Christian faith. Yet, various religions with monotheistic thinking (Judaism, Islam, etc.) consider Jesus as nothing more than a prophet, a good teacher, but not the true Messiah.

Others called deists accept the existence of God. Nevertheless, deists believe God doesn’t intervene in the world or in the lives of humans or creation. Furthermore, they don’t believe in the divine inspiration of God’s Word, His deity and the Trinity, therefore, Jesus is considered a persona non-grata.

Then there’s the agnostic. A person who neither believes nor disbelieves in God or religious teachings. Agnostics claim that human beings cannot know anything about creation, and they question if any divine being exists. In their thinking, there may be a God, but, again, the Trinity is ignored. Then there’s the atheist who wholeheartedly believes there is absolutely no God…period!

So, is there a difference between the theist, monotheist, polytheist, deist, the agnostic, or atheist? Absolutely none … IF … they do not acknowledge, accept and believe through faith in the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Plainly stated, Jesus died for our sins, was buried and arose again! Yes, vast numbers of people believe God does exist, but millions reject Jesus Christ, and will forever be lost. Yet, "… if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him (Jesus) from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9)

Regardless of what one calls oneself, we are ALL sinners (Romans 3:23), and without belief in the saving grace of Jesus Christ, eternal salvation will not be ours. Thankfully, unlike the faulty promises of various commercial products, we can totally and completely depend on and have steadfast faith in God’s everlasting promise that Jesus Christ is God’s plan; God’s plan by which to provide eternal salvation to all who will believe and accept Jesus Christ. (Read Luke 2:4-20) "For God sent not His Son (Jesus) into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him (Jesus) might be saved." (John 3:17)

Any theology that states that one is a true born-again believer because of one’s belief in God is nothing more than another of man’s empty promises. Sadly, such teaching is a lie. "Jesus saith..…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) Understand! Jesus clearly states that NO ONE obtains eternal salvation, but through Him. "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust (you and me), that he (Jesus) might bring us to God…." (I Peter 3:18). Only those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior have the assurance of eternal life.

Have we bought into Satan’s religious "remedy" for denying Jesus or are we eternally secure, a born-again believer, having placed our faith in God’s permanent and everlasting ‘gift’ of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9) "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name (Jesus) under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) "He that believeth on the Son (Jesus), hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son (Jesus) shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him." (John 3:36) Jesus IS the remedy! Jesus IS the Gift!
